Vivo Energy Ghana, marketer and distributor of Shell-branded fuel and lubricants, has commissioned a fully renovated washroom facility for La Enobal Basic School in Labone, Accra.
The Finance Manager of Vivo Energy Ghana, Kilai Muasya at the commissioning ceremony highlighted the importance of creating a conducive environment for learning.
He emphasized that decent sanitation facilities are vital to the health and well-being of students.
Kilai Muasya disclosed that the initiative forms part of the company’s commitment to improving Sanitation and hygiene in schools as well as supporting infrastructure development within its operational communities.
“At Vivo Energy Ghana, we believe in growing with our communities and providing a clean and safe learning environment is foundational to achieving quality education. This facility reflects our dedication to empowering the next generation through meaningful partnerships and impactful interventions” he said.
The Director of Education of La-Dade Kotopon Municipal Assembly, Madam Habiba Kotomah, expressed gratitude to Vivo Energy Ghana for its continuous support to the school and the community at large.
She declared that the renovated WASH facility has come to address the challenges of befitting place of convenience for both teachers and students of the La Enobal Basic School.

The contractor responsible for the project, Mr. Desmond Dickson of Azmon Limited provided an overview of the renovation, detailing the complete transformation of the old structure into a modern and functional facility.
He said as part of the renovation works, the pit latrine, commonly referred to as KVIP was converted to WC.
The contractor further pointed that urinal bowls and handwashing basins for both male and female washrooms were added to the structure

He continued that provision was also made for a modern standard washrooms for teachers.
Desmond Dickson said other aspects of the renovation included replacement of old tiles, dilapidated ceiling, and roofing works.

Corporate Communications Manager of
Vivo Energy Ghana, Shirley Tony Kum said Vivo Energy also provided a 2500-litre overhead water tank to the facility ensure regular supply of water.
She noted that the upgraded renovation has completely transformed the old dilapidated structure into a standards enhancing a safe and dignified experience for all users.
The La Enobal Basic School project is one of many sustainable initiatives undertaken by Vivo Energy Ghana to promote sustainable developments within local communities in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal Six (SDG 6) of ensuring access to clean water and decent sanitation for all.
