Philanthropist and businessman has handed over newly constructed Accident and Emergency Unit to management of the Sewfi Wiawso Government Hospital in the Western North region.

The emergency health care facility was solely funded by the CEO of Raycof Group of Companies, Mr. Ramus Kwofie and his wife, Elizabeth.

The facility, according to management will serve the emergency health needs of residents of the newly created Western North region and its immediate surroundings.

At a colourful inaugural ceremony on Thursday, November 17, 2022, the Regional Health Director, Dr. Marion Okoh Owusu was elated that the facility now has a unit that will take care of the emergency health needs of people in the region.

The director recounted the frustrations that health service managers in the Wiawso Municipal Government Hospital in particular and the Western North Regional Health Directorate in general went through in the absence of the unit.

Dr. Marion Okoh Owusu expressed profound gratitude to Mr. Kwofie and wife, Elizabeth, for such a noble gesture and most especially for finally witnessing the commissioning of the project in her time.

She described the project as one that compliments the status a municipal hospital.

“After surveying the facility, the Management and Regional Health Service Team consider the block a befitting monument that complements the standard of a municipal hospital,” she said.

Dr. Marion called on other wealthy individuals, NGOs and corporate bodies to emulate the couple’s gesture by devoting resources to support and advance health delivery services in the municipality, the region and the country.

Addressing the public, the Regional Health Director, Dr. Marion Okoh Owusu expressed her profound gratitude to Mr. Kwofie and wife, Elizabeth, indicating her excitement to have witnessed the kind donation during her tenure.

“After surveying the facility, the Management and Regional Health Service Team consider the block a befitting monument that complements the hospital,” she said.

Dr. Marion took the opportunity to encourage other individuals, Non-Governmental Organizations and corporate bodies to emulate the couple’s gesture by devoting their time, expertise, and resources to support and advance health delivery services in the municipality.

In an interview, Mr. Kwofie and wife said they were touched upon seeing accident victims and patients in need of emergency healthcare service lying on hospital floors, verandas and on benches during a visit to the facility.

The couple said they then resolved to put up a befitting structure as their little contribution to the welfare of the people of the Wiawso community and the country.

Mr. Kwofie entreated the general public to, within their capacities, see life beyond themselves and help make life better for others.
