Ghana to switch to E-Visa- Foreign Affairs Ministry

Ghana will soon switch to E-Visa from the current sticker visa usage, the country’s
Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has hinted.

The ministry indicated that plans are far advanced for the migration process to take off by close of 2022.

The sector minister Shirley Ayorkor Botwey said the switch will enable Ghanaian travelers meet international standard traveling documents requirements.

According to the minister, the move will also eliminate visa fraud and improve the county’s international reputation.

Shirley Ayorkor Botwey, made the disclosure when addressing students at the 62 Academic Law Week and Student Representative Council (SRC) Lecture at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA)in Accra.

Ayorkor Botwey further revealed that plans are underway to standardize the Ghanaian bio-metric passport.

She pointed out that her ministry intends to upgrade the current bio-metric passport to chip-embedded ones with enhanced security features.

She disclosed that the country currently has only 13 visa application centers.

Shirley Botwey said the ministry also has plans to establish passport application center in all 16 regional capitals in the country.

This the minister stressed will reduce the stress, frustration and travel risk in visa acquisition in Ghana.
