The Kwahu South Municipal Assembly has instituted measures to fast track the processes of building permits approval for prospective applicants in the municipality.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon Effah Osei Bonsu says prospective applicants can now get feedback whether their permit application will be approved or denied in a less than two month from the date of application.

According to the Municipal Chief Executive, the new regime has helped clear all permit application backlog that his administration took over.

He added that the timely response to permit application is enhancing proper physical planning of the municipality and also improved revenue mobilization of the Assembly.

The Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Effah Osei Bonsu, who introduced the new permit regime to the media said the current state of development planning of the municipality needs urgent attention.

He said in order for management to deliver to the expectations of the people, citizens must also cooperate with authorities in carrying out its mandate.

The MCE said the Assembly needs the full collaboration of all stakeholders to ensure proper structural planning of the various communities in the Kwahu South unicipality, particularly the capital.

He noted that due to the lack of effective monitoring and supervision in the past, buildings are springing up in unauthorized spaces, some with poor architectural designs or without the required building documentations or permits.

Hon. Osei Bonsu attributed the poor and inappropriate citing of buildings to the unnecessary delay in the issuance of building permits to potential developers.

He said it is for this reason that his team introduced the new permit regime.
He said his administration will ensure that the current permit regime is sustained.

The MCE argued that with the introduction of timely delivery of permit application response, no developer will have any excuse citing a structure at unauthorized space or without the required documentations and permit.

Hon. Effah Osei Bonsu therefore appealed to citizens and stakeholders to give the Assembly the needed support and cooperation to effectively transform the municipality.
