This year’s Global Handwashing Day event in Ghana will take place at the Kumasi City Market (former Kejetia market) in Kumasi in the Ashanti region.

The event under the global theme: “Unite for universal hand hygiene,” comes off on Saturday October 15th, 2022.

Market women and traders at the modern market centre are expected to participate fully in lined up activities mark the event.

The Community Water and Sanitation Agency (CWSA) is the state agency under the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources.

The agency is leading the WASH sector for the national event in Ghana.

Mrs. Adomako-Adjei said her agency has engaged stakeholders, including market women in Kumasi to build momentum towards a successful national event observation.

She commended the leadership of GAMA, UNICEF, the Church of Christ and WaterAid Ghana for their support towards the event.

Market queens of the Kumasi City Market have been taken through orientation by the health department of the Church of Christ in Kumasi in preparation towards the event.
