Preparations are far advanced for the official launching of Asante-Europe community in Amsterdam next month by Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Leadership of the 15 Asanteman unions in 11 European countries have scheduled the official launch in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, for Saturday July 2, 2022.

His Royal Majesty, the Asantehene visit would be the second in two decades since he last visited the Netherlands in June 2002.

The previous visit by Asantehene deepened the over 300 year-relationship between Ghana (formerly Gold Coast) and the Netherlands.

The July visit is expected to rekindle diplomatic ties between the Manhyia Palace (Seat of the Royal Kingdom of Asante in Kumasi, Ghana) and the Constitutional Monarch of the Netherlands.

The occasion will also bring together some prominent traditional rulers from the West African nation to the Netherlands.

Among prominent chiefs expected to be at the launching include Paramount Chief of Kumawu Traditional Council, (Kumawumanhene), Barima Safo Tweneboa Kodua; Nana Adusei Atwerewa Apem, Paramount Chief of Tepa; Nana Akyampomaa Ntansa Yiadom II, Paramount Queen Mother of Agona( Agonamanhemaa) as well as Chief of Kona (Konahene), Nana Konadu Yiadom Kumanin IV and Queen Mother of Fawoman (Fawomanhemaa), Nana Serwaa Ampafo.

Apart from traditional authorities, the event is also bringing together respected Ghanaian diplomats and business magnets.

Ghana’s Ambassador to the Netherlands, Francis Danti Kotia, distinguished business magnets Osei Kwame Despite and CEO of Angel Group of Companies, Dr. Kweku Oteng will also grace the occasion.

Chairperson of the launching planning committee and Adontenhene of Asanteman Traditional Council of the Netherlands, Nana Kwabena Opoku said the event is intended to raise funds to support activities back home, Ghana.

According to him, the event is expected to bring about 5000 participants mostly Ghanaians.

The funds will go the support of needy but brilliant students in Ghana and also some health facilities in Asanteman.

Nana Ama Serwaa Nyarko Kesewaa, Asantefoɔhemaa of Holland and Nana Onipamu Osei Kuffour, Holland Asantefoɔhene are optimistic that Asanteman Traditional Council of Netherlands is well prepared for the ceremony.

The 15 member Asanteman associations (unions) in 11 European countries are; Asanteman KroyɛKuo (Austria), Asanteman Association of Belgium (Belgium), Asanteman Association Antwerp (Belgium), Asanteman Denmark (Denmark), Asanteman Finland Ry (Finland), Asanteman Kuo Hamburg (Germany), Asanteman Dusseldorf (Germany), Asanteman Royals Association Dusseldorf (Germany), Asanteman Kuo Berlin (Germany).

The rest are Asanteman Norway (Norway), Asanteman Italy (Italy), Asanteman Traditional Council of the Netherlands (the Netherlands), Asantemankuo Sweden (Sweden), Asanteman Union Switzerland (Switzerland) and Asanteman Nkabomukuo (UK).

The President of the Executive Council, Papa Yaw Agyei said the formation of Asanteman Europe was not only to reunite Asantes in the diaspora soil, but to create networking avenue among members.

Papa Agyei urged Asantes living in Asia, Oceania (Australia), South America, Middle East, to also learn from the good example of Europe
to network with one another culturally.

The Board Chairman of Asanteman Europe, Nana Ekuoba Semperemo Gyasi Gyimah entreated members never to forget their roots.

He recalled that Asanteman Europe was formed in February 2018 in Zurich, Switzerland when he and some few Asantes living in Europe saw the need to promote the Asante culture, especially among younger generation in diaspora.
